Terms of Use
Last updated October 3, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Taxcrate for using the Taxcrate app and website. By creating an account you agree to them.
What Taxcrate is, and isn’t
Taxcrate is a tool to organize receipts, income, budgets and records. It is not tax, legal or financial advice, and it does not file taxes. Write-off labels, category suggestions and state notes are general information to help you stay organized. Tax rules change and depend on your situation; your tax preparer makes the final decisions about what you can deduct.
Reading receipts automatically
Taxcrate uses AI to read receipts. It can make mistakes, so check amounts, dates and categories before relying on them. You are responsible for the accuracy of your records and tax returns.
Your account
Keep your password private and tell us right away at support@taxcrate.app if you think someone else has accessed your account. You must be 18 or older, and use Taxcrate only for lawful purposes.
Your content
You own the receipts, photos and information you add. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Taxcrate to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. Keep your own copies of anything important; you can export your data at any time.
Subscriptions
Some features require a paid subscription, billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. A free trial, if offered, turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; manage or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Prices may change with notice.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete my account). We may suspend accounts that misuse the service or break these terms.
Disclaimers and limits
Taxcrate is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it accurate, secure and available, but we can’t promise it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, Taxcrate is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including tax penalties or lost deductions, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we make important changes, we’ll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Taxcrate means you accept the updated terms.
