Privacy Policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
Taxcrate helps you keep receipts, income records and budgets organized for tax time. Your records are financial and personal, so we collect as little as we can, never sell it, and keep it private to your account. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash).
- What you add: photos and files of receipts, bills, pay stubs and checks; the details read from them (store, date, items, amounts, tax); categories, notes, folders and budgets you create.
- Your “Find my write-offs” answers: things like whether you have kids, own a home or do side work, and the state you live and work in. These are used only to suggest categories and tips.
- Subscription status: whether your subscription is active. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card number.
- Basic technical data: information our hosting providers log to keep the service secure and working (for example, IP address and error logs).
We do not use advertising trackers, sell your data, or share it with data brokers.
How we use it
- To store your records and show them back to you across your devices.
- To read receipt photos automatically and suggest categories.
- To build the reports you ask for, such as your tax-time PDF and spreadsheet.
- To provide support when you contact us, and to keep the service secure.
Who helps us run Taxcrate
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and photo storage in the United States. Your data is encrypted when stored and when sent.
- Anthropic provides the AI that reads receipt photos. Photos are sent only to read them; Anthropic does not use them to train its models and keeps them only briefly, as its commercial terms allow.
- Apple and Google process subscription payments under their own privacy policies.
- Cloudflare runs this website and forwards email sent to our support address.
These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us.
Who can see your records
Your records are locked to your account by database rules: other users cannot see them. Taxcrate staff do not browse your records. We may access them only if you ask us for help, or if needed to keep the service secure or to comply with the law.
How long we keep it
Your records stay in your account until you delete them, so you can keep them for the 7 years the IRS may ask about. If you delete a receipt or your account, it is removed from our systems right away; copies in routine backups are overwritten within a limited time.

Depending on your state (for example California), you may have additional rights to know, correct or delete your information. Email us and we will honor them.
